Calligraphy –

The students practiced writing their names in Japanese Kanji,

given to them by the Calligraphy teacher, Mr. Yano.

 

              

 

Cooking –

The students prepared a Japanese meal in Home Economics class. 

They made chirashizushi, miso soup, and a small mochi dessert.

 

        

 

English III-1 –

Students from 3-1 class demonstrated various aspects of Japanese culture for the students. 

These included folding origami, using chopsticks, and playing shiritori.

 

              

 

English I-I –

1-1 Class students prepared short speeches in groups for the Sunnyvale Students about Japan. 

Their topics ranged from information about Fukuoka to famous landmarks and sights in Japan.

 

        

 

Japanese History –

The students attended a Japanese History lesson to experience a typical class and

experience school life in Japan.  In this class, they learned about Japanese castles.

 

      
      

Historical Museum –

After their history lesson, the students took a short fieldtrip to the Iizuka City Historical Museum.  There, they learned about Iizuka’s past, from ancient coffins to coal mining.

 

      

 

English III-1 –

In their final class at Kaho Higashi, the students from Sunnyvale and Kaho Higashi said their goodbyes.  They wrote kind messages and thanked each other for the unforgettable memories shared.

 

                

Flower Arrangement –

Their final experience was creating a beautiful bouquet with the Flower Arrangement club.  The students were able to take home their works of art.
